The Los Angeles Chargers signed Darius Jennings of Baltimore, Maryland to a contract. Terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed.

Jennings is set to join his third National Football League franchise. He played his rookie season of 2017 with the Cleveland Browns and then his last two NFL seasons in 2018 and 2019 with the Tennessee Titans.

A multi-positional player, Jennings has been used throughout his career to date sometimes as a wide receiver, but more frequently as a kickoff returner. In 2019, he only had two catches for 17 yards and then had nine kickoff returns in the regular season for 196 yards. When the Titans made the postseason, Jennings had three more kickoff returns for 60 yards. He had two kickoff returns for 40 yards in the Titans’ 20-13 AFC Wildcard win over the New England Patriots and then one kickoff return for 20 yards in the Titans’ 28-12 win over the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Divisional Playoff. In both games the Titans were underdogs and surprised many teams by reaching the AFC Championship against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Jennings also has one career NFL touchdown. That happened on a kickoff return while with the Titans in 2018. Jennings found pay dirt thanks to a 94 yard kickoff return for a touchdown in a 27-20 Titans loss to the Miami Dolphins on September 9, 2018. It was actually one of two kickoff returns for a touchdown in the game as Jakeem Grant had a 102 yard kickoff return for a touchdown while with the Dolphins. Jennings also led the NFL in 2018 with 31.7 yards per kickoff return.
