Celtics guard Marcus Smart tests positive for Coronavirus
March 21, 2020

Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart of Flower Mound, Texas is the latest player in the National Basketball Association to be diagnosed with the Coronavirus. The disease is becoming the most troubling pandemic to have ever existed in our lifetime. Currently there have been 14 NBA players who have been diagnosed with Coronavirus.
Smart, who was diagnosed on Thursday according to USA Today, stated, “The younger generation in our country MUST self distance. This is not a joke.” Smart was probably referring to the 250 people who went on a “booze cruise” in the Bahamas or the large number of people who have been sun tanning on Florida beaches.
Smart also updated everyone on his personal situation according to Dave McMenamin and Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN.
“I’m OK, I feel fine. I don’t feel any of the symptoms. But I can’t stress enough practicing social distancing and really keeping yourself away from a large group of people and just really washing your hands and help protect yourself. And help protect others by protecting yourself….Not doing so is selfish. Together we can beat this, but we must beat it together by being apart for a short while.”
The comments for Smart are well said. He has become a leader for his generation in trying to raise awareness of this horrendous disease. However it has not been reported yet how Smart thought he got Coronavirus.
Currently there are three players from the Brooklyn Nets, two Los Angeles Lakers, one Denver Nugget and three Philadelphia 76ers who have not been named yet who all have Coronavirus. It will be excellent to see if all nine of these players take Smart’s lead and address the seriousness of this pandemic to social media.
