Carlos Alcaraz to play Jannik Sinner in 2025 French Open men’s final

We will see the top two tennis players in the world on back-to-back days this weekend. On Thursday, it was determined that women’s world number one Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus will face women’s world number two Coco Gauff of the United States in the Women’s French Open final on Saturday. Then on Friday, it was determined that men’s world number one Jannik Sinner of Italy will face men’s world number two Carlos Alcaraz of Spain in the Men’s French Open final on Sunday.
In Friday’s first men’s semifinal from Roland Garros, Alcaraz defeated the eighth seed, Lorenzo Musetti of Italy, 4-6, 7-6, 6-0, 2-0. Musetti withdrew early in the fourth set with a hamstring injury. Alcaraz broke Musetti six times in 12 opportunities, and won 72% of the points on his first serve, compared to only 57% for Musetti.
The French Open semifinal was a rematch of the Monte Carlo Masters final. In that match Musetti won the first set 6-3, before losing the next two sets, 6-1, 6-0. This was the second straight match where Alcaraz bageled his opponent in a set. In the quarterfinals, Alcaraz beat the 12th seed Tommy Paul of the United States, 6-0, 6-1, 6-4,
Meanwhile, Sinner defeated Novak Djokovic of Serbia, the sixth seed, 6-4, 7-5, 7-6, in the second semifinal. Sinner was the better server as he had 10 aces compared to four for Djokovic.
Alcaraz has won seven of 11 matches all-time against Sinner, including the last four contests. Their only match in 2025 came in the final of the Italian Open in Rome last month. Alcaraz was victorious in this matchup, 7-5, 6-1.
