Canterbury’s Friday Night Series continues tonight. Our analyst has picked out a Joe Pride mare that looks a big improver after she was forced to settle at the rear from a wide gate 1st up and a Waller stayer that looks a great value play if the track doesn’t fall apart late.
Best Selection: R6- Weeping Woman
Weeping Woman was heavily supported at Warwick Farm 1st up over 1000m but was hindered by a wide gate and was forced to settle towards the rear despite jumping cleanly. She hit the line strongly to finish 1.7L 4th out wide on the track. She gets a better map for this and I expect her to be a big improver settling closer to the speed. She has won on the Soft and performed well in a recent trial on a Soft 7.
Value Selection: R8- Monarchs Brae
If the track remains on the lower range of a Soft then Monarchs Brae looks great value dropping back in grade. He landed on-speed and was only run down late to finish 0.5L 2nd at Randwick 2 starts back before being a touch disappointing at Rosehill last start. He gets a nice map here and has 3 wins from 6 goes on this track.
