Browns trade wide receiver Amari Cooper to Bills
October 17, 2024

According to the Associated Press on Tuesday, the Cleveland Browns traded wide receiver Amari Cooper of Miami, Florida to the Buffalo Bills with a sixth round pick in the 2025 National Football League Draft. In return, the Cleveland Browns receive a third round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and a seventh round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
The Bills are the fourth NFL franchise Cooper has played for in his NFL career. He has previously played four seasons with the Oakland Raiders from 2015 to 2018, four seasons with the Dallas Cowboys from 2018 to 2021, and three seasons with the Cleveland Browns from 2022 to 2024.
In six games this season, Cooper has 24 catches for 250 passing yards and two touchdowns. Both of his touchdowns came in a 21-15 Browns loss to the New York Giants in week three. The Giants were one of eight teams in week three to deliver an upset.
This was the third time in Cooper’s career he was traded. He was initially traded from the Oakland Raiders to the Cowboys on October 22, 2018 for a first round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. The Raiders selected safety Jonathan Abram of Columbia, Mississippi 27th overall. Cooper was then traded by Dallas to Cleveland with a sixth round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft (Browns selected another wide receiver in Michael Woods II of Magnolia, Texas) for a fifth round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft (Cowboys selected offensive lineman Matt Waletzko of Cold Spring, Minnesota) and a sixth round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft (Cowboys selected linebacker Devin Harper of Atlanta, Georgia).
Cooper has been selected to the Pro Bowl five times in his career (2015 and 2016 with Oakland. 2018 with Oakland and Dallas. 2019 with Dallas and 2023 with Cleveland). He had a career-high 92 receptions with Dallas in 2020, career-high 1250 receiving yards with Cleveland in 2023, and a career-high nine touchdowns with Cleveland in 2022.
This is the second time this week a Pro Bowl wide receiver was traded. On Tuesday, Davante Adams of East Palo Alto, California was traded from the Las Vegas Raiders to the New York Jets.
