The Milwaukee Brewers will be without outfielder Christian Yelich of Thousand Oaks, California for a month according to the Associated Press on Tuesday. Yelich strained his adductor (groin area) in an 8-6 Brewers loss to the Washington Nationals on Sunday.
The 2018 National League Most Valuable Player initially felt discomfort while running to first base in a fielder’s choice. He stayed in the game until the fifth inning before leaving.
So far in 2026, Yelich is batting .314 with one home run and 10 runs batted in. During 15 games, 51 at bats, and 56 plate appearances, he has scored 10 runs and had 16 hits, two doubles, one triple, three stolen bases, five walks, and 23 total bases, with an on base percentage of .375 and a slugging percentage of .451.
All four of Yelich’s extra base hits came in Brewers victories this season. His home run was a three-run game-winning dinger while coming off the bench in the bottom of the eighth inning in a 9-7 Brewers win over the Chicago White Sox on March 29. Yelich then hit a double and a triple on April 5 in an 8-5 Brewers win over the Kansas City Royals, and then had a double on April 6 in an 8-6 Brewers win over the Boston Red Sox.
However, since the Brewers win over the Red Sox nine days ago, the Brewers have been ice cold. They have been losers of six straight games, including being the recipient of a three game series sweep at the hands of the Nationals on the weekend. The three straight losses were notable when you consider the fact that in 2025, the Brewers had the best regular season record in all of baseball, while the Nationals were the second worst team in the National League.
