The Toronto Blue Jays simply looked lost as a unit offensively in the first two games of the 2025 American League Championship Series in the Ontario provincial capital. All they saw in game one was a George Springer lead off home run in a 3-1 loss to the Seattle Mariners, and in game two, Toronto did nothing after tying the game at three in the second inning in a 10-3 defeat.
In game three, the Blue Jays bats came alive. In the process, they set a franchise record for most extra base hits in a playoff game with nine. As a team, the Blue Jays hit five home runs and four doubles. It was Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of Montreal, Quebec who led the Toronto attack with three extra base hits (one home run and two doubles). The other four Blue Jays with a home run were Andres Gimenez, George Springer, Alejandro Kirk and Addison Barger. Toronto also got doubles from Daulton Varsho and Ernie Clement.
It did not start all that well for the Blue Jays. Seattle actually took a 2-0 lead on another first inning home run by Julio Rodriguez. Seattle could not score again for the next six innings. In that time, Toronto scored a dozen times.
Meanwhile on the mound, Toronto was looking for a big-time performance from starting pitcher Shane Bieber who they acquired from Cleveland at the trade deadline and got it. Now they will need another one from the veteran Max Scherzer in game four on Thursday. Scherzer  struggled down the stretch and was not on the ALDS roster against the New York Yankees.
