What we have seen from the 2025 World Series so far has been rather interesting. The bottom line is you never know what you are going to get. The Toronto Blue Jays dominated game one, the Dodgers got an incredible pitching performance in game two, and then the teams played to an 18 inning marathon in game three before the Dodgers won 6-5,
In game four we saw the best Major League Baseball player in the world do his thing. Japan’s Shohei Ohtani pitched to his opponent, then got prepared to leadoff the inning for his team in the batting order. We have literally have not seen anything like this on a regular basis since Babe Ruth starred for the Boston Red Sox, before he joined the New York Yankees over a century ago.
However, what we saw on Tuesday in game four was Ohtani not at his very best. He got outpitched by Toronto’s Shane Bieber, and did not have a hit in three at bats.
The Blue Jays meanwhile had an historic third inning home run by first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of Montreal, Quebec. Guerrero hit a two-run home run in the third inning, and as a result hit his seventh home run in postseason history. The is the most playoff home runs by a Blue Jays player ever. He has one more dinger than Jose Bautista and Joe Carter.
The Blue Jays then had a magical inning. Ok, it is not like game one when they scored nine runs in the sixth inning. In the top of the seventh inning in game four, the Blue Jays scored four runs, had four singles and one double. The extra base hit was by Ernie Clement off of Ohtani.
