Warwick Farm hosted Sydney trials on Friday. Our analyst has Black Booked an impressive unraced Waller colt and a Newmarket runner-up that looks to have returned in outstanding order from an injury setback.
Phantom Major
The unraced Waller colt got a long way back in his 1209m Warwick Farm trial and there was a lot to like with how he made terrific ground down the outside under minimal riding from Schiller. He looks like a long striding leggy type that will be best over 1400-1600m.
Headwall
The G3 Concorde winner looks to have returned in outstanding order after an injury set back. He took up his usual settling position well back in the field before taking an inside run up the straight and powering to the line under a strong grip from Jay Ford to finish 0.1L 3rd to Gatsby’s. It’s difficult to assume what his target will be this time of year but he is a bet in any sprint race over the winter, particularly on a wet track.
