The Atlanta Falcons could be without one of their most promising defensive players for the entire 2026 NFL season.
Second-year edge rusher Jalon Walker is reportedly feared to have torn the ACL in his right knee after going down during Tuesday’s training camp practice.
Walker Injured During Team Drill
Walker suffered the injury during an 11-on-11 period at the Falcons’ training facility in Flowery Branch, Georgia.
The 22-year-old remained on the ground as teammates gathered around him, with the session reportedly ending early before Walker was taken from the field.

Losing Walker would be a significant setback for a Falcons defence expecting him to assume a larger role during his second professional season.
Walker played 15 games as a rookie in 2025, recording 36 tackles, 5.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and a pass defended.
Those numbers offered an encouraging glimpse of his versatility. Walker possesses the athleticism to rush from the edge, play off the ball and move around the defensive formation depending on the situation.
That flexibility made him an important part of Atlanta’s defensive plans, particularly after gaining a full season of NFL experience.

Walker Emerged As A Leading Prospect At Georgia
Atlanta invested heavily in Walker when the franchise selected him with the 15th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
The Salisbury, North Carolina, product remained in Georgia for his college career and developed into one of the country’s leading defensive prospects.
Walker accumulated 89 tackles and 12.5 sacks across 43 appearances for the Bulldogs between 2022 and 2024. He also won the Butkus Award in his final college season, recognising him as the top linebacker in American college football.
His combination of speed, power and positional versatility helped establish him as a first-round prospect before the Falcons kept him in Georgia.
What Happens Next For Walker?
Walker is expected to undergo further evaluation before Atlanta provides a definitive injury update.
If the torn ACL is confirmed, he would almost certainly be placed on injured reserve and begin a rehabilitation program aimed at returning in 2027.
