The Newcastle Knights have quickly pushed through a one-year extension for exciting young second rower Francis Manuleleua as he continues to earn first-grade minutes.
Manuleleua isn’t a local junior, having come through the Panthers pathway, but has been with the club as a prospect for two years.

The 22-year-old had been expected to ease into the lineup, but has already made eight appearances under Justin Holbrook in 2026 due to Dylan Lucas playing State of Origin and then getting injured (ankle).
Recently, Manuleleua shone during Newcastle’s 30-6 romp against Brisbane; he made 31 tackles and ran 100 metres, including 46 post-contact.
“We are very excited to see where Francis can get to in his career,” Knights recruitment chief Peter O’Sullivan said today. O’Sullivan was the scout that originally spotted Manuleleau as a 14-year-old.
“Francis thoroughly deserves this extension, he has worked extremely hard and come a long way since joining the club,” he continued.
“He has a wonderful family and support group around him, with this extension he now has the opportunity to cement his place in our NRL squad.”
“Francis is one of the most naturally gifted players we have at the Knights, his performances in NSW Cup and in the NRL has earned him credibility with the players and staff,” O’Sullivan added.
