AFL Team Lists: Collingwood Vs Geelong – The Biggest Betting Impacts From Team Lists

The confirmed teams are in for Collingwood vs Geelong, with both clubs making one important change ahead of tonight’s clash at the MCG. The Magpies regain Lachie Schultz but lose Brayden Maynard, while the Cats will be without Patrick Dangerfield after the veteran was managed following a hip issue.

With two major players missing from opposite ends of the ground, the final selections have created several important considerations across the match, goalscorer and player-performance markets.

Biggest Ins – Collingwood

Lachie Schultz

Schultz returns from an ankle injury and provides Collingwood with additional pressure, experience and scoring threat inside forward 50. His inclusion gives the Magpies another player capable of capitalising on ground-level opportunities around their taller forwards.

From a betting perspective, Schultz’s return adds another option to Collingwood’s anytime goalscorer markets while potentially reducing the reliance on their other small forwards to provide scoreboard impact.

Biggest Outs – Collingwood

Brayden Maynard

Maynard has been ruled out with a knee and hamstring issue, removing one of Collingwood’s most physical and dependable defenders. His absence could make it more difficult for the Magpies to contain Geelong’s dangerous mix of tall and small forwards.

The change may also force Collingwood to adjust its defensive matchups, increasing the appeal of Geelong’s forward markets despite the Cats losing Dangerfield.

Biggest Ins – Geelong

Jack Martin

Martin replaces Dangerfield and gives Geelong another experienced forward capable of making an impact around goal. His inclusion maintains some versatility within the Cats’ attacking structure, although he does not provide the same midfield and marking influence as Dangerfield.

Martin could attract interest in the anytime goalscorer market, particularly if Geelong uses him predominantly inside forward 50.

Biggest Outs – Geelong

Patrick Dangerfield

Dangerfield is the most significant omission from either team after being managed following a hip issue suffered in Geelong’s win over Melbourne. His absence removes one of the Cats’ most powerful contested players and an important marking target close to goal.

Without Dangerfield, Geelong may need more midfield impact from Bailey Smith and its remaining on-ballers, while Shannon Neale and the Cats’ other forwards face greater responsibility to provide a winning score.

Early Betting Verdict

The biggest selection impact is Dangerfield’s absence. Geelong loses a player capable of influencing the game through the midfield or forward line, which could strengthen Collingwood’s prospects around the contest and make the Magpies more appealing in the head-to-head market.

Maynard’s absence prevents the team news from being entirely one-sided, however, as Geelong’s forwards now face a Collingwood defence missing one of its strongest competitors. Bailey Smith’s disposal markets, Shannon Neale’s goalscorer markets and Lachie Schultz to kick a goal are among the most notable player angles created by the confirmed changes.
