Racing: 2026 Gimcrack Stakes Review: What The Jockeys Said

Shraddha put herself into the juvenile picture with an authoritative win in the Group 3 Keeneland Gimcrack Stakes (1000m) at Randwick, beating longshot I’m Admired and She’s Supreme. Here’s what Tommy Berry and the beaten riders said.

It is always important to hear what the jockeys say after the race, as you can forgive a horse’s bad run or even find a winner next start, so head to the post-race comments below.

ANISTON (Sam Clipperton) – 12th

She handled the occasion well. Just a bit too soon for her.

BOURBON BEAT (Tim Clark) – 11th

Had a wide run on speed. Probably come to the end of her prep.

RHYTHM (Jason Collett) – 10th

Didn’t handle the occasion at all. Over-raced.

RUNAWAY DIVA (Rachel King) – 9th

Really pleasing first run. She will be a really nice horse next prep.

FARNANS SWEETHEART (Alysha Collett) – 8th

Showed good gate speed. Just a little bit new. Thought it was a great run.

OUTBACK AFFAIR (Regan Bayliss) – 7th

They will have some fun with her.

PROVATA (Zac Lloyd) – 6th

She ran well. A very sweet filly. She will be better over further.

SHEZABLAZE (Andrew Adkins) – 5th

Good effort. She got into a good possie. Travelled up great. Thought was running a good second. Tired the last 50m.

ENFIELD (Nash Rawiller) – 4th

She is a nice filly. Probably have a break now. She will come back bigger and stronger.

SHE’S SUPREME (Kerrin McEvoy) – 3rd

Good run. She will improve.

I’M ADMIRED (Reece Jones) – 2nd

She was superb. Very tricky draw from the start. Today was a lot to do with helping educate her. Still very raw but keeping her on the bridle and working through her gears really paid dividends.

SHRADDHA (Tommy Berry) – 1st

She has been a bit of a ‘madam’ at home, she has been a bit of a handful. So full credit to Michael and his staff for the work they have done with her.

When I rode her in a jump-out, she gave me a really good feel and then she improved again into her barrier trial.

There wasn’t much of a gap there at the top of the straight but she put herself into it and won with authority. I know what she is like at home, she can do a left or right turn on you so I think I grabbed hold of her late before she did it.

She hit the front at the 300m and had her ears pricked the whole way down the straight. When the opposition gets better she will get better. I know Michael has a lot of time for her so we might not see her for a while.
