Black Book: Horses You Must Follow From Sandown 11/2
February 14, 2023
Our form analyst has looked over the replays & sectional times from Sandown on Saturday and has placed his list of horses you must follow below.
GLENTANEOUS
Good run at his first try this campaign over 2400 metres at his fourth run in when he finished nicely for third behind two in-form stayers in So Unusual and Highland Jack. He just tired in the closing stages so he should go close at his next start.
PERICLES
James Cummings and the Godolphin team have an enormous opinion of this gelding who looked a winning chance despite racing wide but just tired in the closing stages at the testing Sandown Hillside track when fifth to Glint Of Silver. Stick with him.
BRAVE HALO
Perth colt who could have won his Melbourne debut with an ounce of luck as none came his way. RV stewards noted he was held up for a run between the 500m and the 200m and he was also disappointed for a run with 80m to go in the boys Blue Diamond Prelude. He was strong to the line and connections should and will pay the late entry fee for the Blue Diamond.
CHAIN OF LIGHTNING
She was luckless in the closing stages of the Adams Stakes. She was blocked for most of the straight and rarely had any galloping room yet she still managed to finish second. She was really strong after the line.
MR BRIGHTSIDE
The Hayes stable have said he comes back a length better every campaign and that looks the case again after his first-up fifth in the Orr Stakes. He was a bit slow out and gave his rivals a decent start. He recorded the third fastest last 400m (22.09 sec) and 200m (11.14 sec) for the day to get within 0.8 lengths of the winner. He’s in for a great campaign.
