Best Of The Best: Our Wednesday Specials – Rosehill 6-10
October 5, 2021
Midweek Sydney racing heads west to Rosehill Gardens for a strong card. We’ve picked out a value runner from the Dunn yard and a Waterhouse/Bott runner that looks to get an easy lead.

Rosehill Race 2 – Holstein
- Trainer: M Dunn
- Jockey: K McEvoy
- Barrier: 1
Happy to speck Holstein 2nd up here as he drops right down in grade after resuming in the Listed Heritage Stakes. He wasn’t overly impressive that day finishing 6L behind Home Affairs but it’s hard to imagine any of this form getting any closer to one of the countries top 3yos on their exposed form.
I can find comfort looking back at his only other run at Warwick Farm where he led impressively all the way to defeat Chill who has been competitive in G1 and G2 races since.
Short price favourite Depiction was impressive winning a Newcastle maiden by 5 lengths but that is as good as the form gets in this race. The others have been far from impressive winning country and provincial maidens.

Rosehill Race 4 – Vittoriosa
- Trainer: Waterhouse & Bott
- Jockey: T Clark
- Barrier: 4
Vittoriosa brings her impressive 5:2-2-0 record to town on the back of a Class 1 victory at Hawkesbury. That form wouldn’t usually send you racing to back a horse but it’s the speed map that reads well for the mare here. On paper nothing has the gate speed to match Vittoriosa whilst more fancied runners Pippali and Fifteen Aria will have to make up a lot of ground off a slow tempo.
I’m hoping the Waterhouse polish has her fit and tough enough to extend it to 3 wins from 6 starts.
Tip: 2 Units Win Vittoriosa @$4.5 with Topsport
