Kensington Race 5 – Promise of Success

We have followed this European mare since her debut win on Australian soil back in June where she blitzed a midweek field at Warwick Farm. She has since finished 3rd at Warwick Farm and an unlucky 2nd over this track and distance where she charged home from last before being sent for a spell.

I was keen to see her return to the trials and I wasn’t disappointed. She followed her usual racing pattern of settling at the rear before working solidly through the line under a strong hold from Hugh Bowman who retains the ride here. She finished 4th  behind Mirra Vision, Big Parade and Marway who will all be working there way towards stakes racing this spring.

Also of note was the fact that she went straight past Splindiferous who was under a lot more pressure from Kathy O’Hara who would weigh 4-5kg less than Hughie at the trials. Splindiferous also returns from a spell in this race after winning 3 in a row last preparation before heading for stakes racing in Queensland. This shows that Promise of Success may be a bit above this level of racing.

Kensington Race 7 – Promotions

Promotions is a runner from the Godolphin yard that looks like he should be a little too good for midweek company. He has solid Saturday form around the likes of Kingsheir, Tycoonist and Madam Legend. He does go up to 60kg coming back in grade but maps to get a perfect run just off the speed from Rachel King which should make the weight penalty manageable.
