Randwick  Race 2 – Profiteer

Profiteer shot to Golden Slipper favourtism after a blistering win a month ago in the Inglis Millennium. He charged to the front and gave nothing a chance streaking away to win by 5.3L.

This is his toughest test today where he will take on some of the countries top prospects. He should get to the front quite easily and I can see him just edging out the likes of Stay Inside, Remarque and Home Affairs.

Randwick Race 4 – Mount Popa

This European import has impressed at his only 2 Australian starts. He won on debut at Randwick and was put out to spell.

First up he had plenty of factors stacked against him; being 1^st up over an unsuitable trip and in a race where there was never going to be a whole lot of speed.

Berry settled him a touch worse than midfield and he tracked eventual winner Shared Ambition into the race nicely. From the 400-200m he looked like he was going to storm past them but he peaked on his run at the 200m mark but still only just missed in a photo finish.

Sacramento continues to win and is the deserved favourite but I like Mount Popa to come over the top of him late.

Randwick Race 7 – Aegon

Aegon came to Australian shores undefeated from 4 runs in New Zealand. The Baker and Forsman yard knows what it takes to come over and win these big carnival races and they seemed to have nailed it here after Aegon streaked some of the countries top 3yo colts in the G2 Hobartville.

It’s hard to see anything turning the tables in the Randwick Guineas. I have long believed that this crop of 3yo colts have been quite even and the way Aegon blitzed them last start went a long way to backing that up.

He should show he is a class above again on Saturday.
