Best Of The Best – Our 3 Best Bets For This Saturday 6/1

A cracking day of racing at Randwick this Saturday. We’ll unpack some of the countries top 3yo sprinters that will line up in the Inglis Sprint, look at an O’Shea mare that trialled brilliantly and sum up the chances of a horse screaming out for a rise in trip.

Randwick Race 4 – Fashchanal

This O’Shea mare returns to racing on the back of two impressive trials. The most recent was at Randwick when she camped off the speed and unleashed a strong finish between runner that were under a lot more pressure than she was and was too strong in the end winning eased down. She did over race a touch so I would expect that they will settle back in the field today in an attempt in relax her.

Last prep she won impressively at Kembla before finishing 3rd in the South Grafton Guineas behind Reus and Foxborough. In this race I can see her camping on the back of the highly fancied April Rain and getting the final crack at her. With the difference in prices I am happy to concede if April Rain is too good.

Randwick Race 7 – Dame Giselle

This filly takes on some of the countries top colts in the million dollar Inglis Sprint. The Snowden’s could’ve kept her against the fillies in the Light Fingers next weekend where she would’ve started favourite so they must feel she is going well.

She’s had two lead up trials compared to race favourite Ole Kirk’s one and in her latest she finished 3rd behind Nature Strip and Bivouac. It’s interesting that Tommy Berry had ridden both Dame Giselle and Ole Kirk in their lead up trials but has sided with the filly here. She does have a tricky gate to contend with but I am hoping she can slot in behind Japery and Malkovich and make it very difficult for Ole Kirk to close the gap over the concluding stages.

Tip: 2 Units Win Dame Giselle @$3.9 With TopSport

Randwick Race 8 – Blaze A Trail

Blaze A Trail earned a spot in my black book at the trials where he flashed home from back in the field and won in an eye-catching manner. I tipped him 1st up but was a little concerned when trainer Matthew Vella said he couldn’t wait to see him race over 2000m in an interview the morning of the race.

He certainly raced like a horse wanting further than 1300m. He settled midfield and plugged away one paced for the majority of the straight before really winding up the last 100m to close off with a strong sectional to finish 2nd.

He gets out to a mile 2nd up in a race where the likes of Ulysses, Debari, Pitchfork and Blondeau will ensure there will be plenty of speed in the last of the day. Expect to see him flashing home late.

Tip: 3 Units Win Blaze a Trail @$3.9 With TopSport
