Randwick Ā Race 5 – Icebath

Icebath is a talented 4yo mare from the underrated Widdup yard and she looks to have found the right race 2nd up here. She was fair 1st up where it looked like her condition may of let her down when 2 lengths 3rd behind Taileur. She split Reelem in Ruby and Tricky Gal in the minor placings and meets those mares 2kg better at the weights here.

She boomed onto the scene last preparation with a 4 length win on a heavy track before going down by a nose in the Golden Eagle, a race much stronger than what she faces today.

Emeralds looks to be the only real danger but from a wide gate she will need to get right back in the field and I believe she may be asked to do too much 1st up from a spell.

Tip: 3 Units Win Icebath @$3.8Ā With TopSport

Randwick Race 6 – Colette

Colette lines up in the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes after dominating the likes of Verry Elleegant and Kolding in the Apollo Stakes 1st up. The market suggests that Verry Elleegant will turn the tables today and as classy as she is, there is not enough to suggest she will make up the 2 lengths from last start.

I’m expecting her to just hold off a fast finishing Verry Elleegant over 1600m here.

Tip: 2 Colette @$3.2Ā With TopSport

Randwick Race 7 – Never Talk

Never Talk’s run in the Light Finger Stakes was a real eye catcher. Despite this the market refuses to show her the respect she deserves.

From a wide barrier, Never Talk was forced to settle at the rear of the field and on the turn she didn’t look a hope. The Lees filly weaved a passage through runners going nowhere in the wet conditions and when she finally saw clear daylight ahead at the 150m she let down a huge only to just miss by a few strides.

The step up to 1400m and barrier 7 are big ticks today. Connections will be hoping the track doesn’t dry out too much. I am scared of the likes of Montefilia, Dame Giselle and Away Game but off that last run I cannot let Never Talk go around at close to double figure odds.

Tip: 2 Unit Win Never Talk @$9 With TopSport
