Best Of The Best – Our 3 Best Bets For This Saturday 23/3
January 22, 2021
Zing and All Time Legend returned a great result for subscribers last weekend where we profited 5 units across 3 bets.Ā This week a Hawkes 2yo out to stamp himself as a Golden Slipper contender and a Godolphin mare who caught the eye last start headline a big day at Rosehill.

Randwick Race 6 – 4 Sacramento
Sacramento was excellent winning over 1800m at Randwick last start. The fact he was forced to cart the field up to a tearaway leader and was still strong on the line added merit to the win. He goes up to 2000m on Saturday but what I really like is the lack of speed in the race. He’s your typical Waterhouse/Bott middle distance horse being fit and a free rolling type. I expect him to get an easy lead here and should be very hard to run down.

Randwick Race 8 – 6 Cradle Mountain
Cradle Mountain represents terrific value in the Carrington Stakes at $21. The 7yo gelding showed he had returned to work as good as ever when he led all the way to win a trial by 5.5L back in early December.
He recently backed up that performance with a 2.3L trial win a week ago. Itās his one run in between those trial wins that has caused his big quote in the market when he finished 13 of 13 on this track. The genuine excuse for him there was the soft track. He gets back on a good here where his record reads 13:6-0-1.
The Kerrin McEvoy booking is a great indicator and it should be noted that he won this race last year when Jason Collett rode a kilo over the prescribed weight of 53kg. He only goes up to 54.5kg this year. I’m really hoping the connections of Quackerjack choose to take a sit which could allow him to pinch some very cheap sectionals up on the pace.

Randwick Race 10 – 5 All Time Legend
All Time Legend is a boom horse that is 2 from 2 this preparation. Normally I donāt like to dive into horses on win streaks, as the handicapping system is designed to prevent them from continuing but this Les Bridge trained 4 yo gelding has a sense of something special about him.
He was dominant 1st up settling at the rear and roaring over the top of them to win by 2.5L. He was inconvenienced by a wide draw last start and McEvoy was forced to press forward and lead, a tactic Les Bridge was surprised by. He was still good enough to dig deep and hold on for a 0.5L victory over the talented Subedar.
From the inside draw today, McEvoy will have plenty of option where I can see him camping 3rd or 4th and producing a finish more like what we saw 1st up.
I can see this fella marking himself as a real lightweight contender in the Doncaster this autumn.
