Kembla Race 3 –  Pesto

This European import profiles to run a big race here. The Hawkes trained gelding is having into his second preparation on Australian soil after a light campaign back in April that saw him finish runner up at Caufield and Kensington. The step up from 1600m to 2000m looks ideal after a grinding last start 5th that looks better on tape than paper. Looks great value with Bowman aboard.

Kembla Race 7 – Private Eye

After charging home over the top of a similar field 1st up, which took his career stats to 10: 7-1-0, I believe this guy may emerge as a star of the spring and pick up a couple of Group 1s along the way.

Big Parade, Peyton Place and the Waterhouse duo of Discharged and Embracer will ensure there is a cracking tempo up front which will set things up nicely for Private Eye.

Ratings analyst way argue the fact he meets Icebath 2.5kg worse at the weights after only defeating her by 1.2L but I think the lightly raced Private Eye has more scope to improve than Widdup’s consistent mare.

Kembla Race 8 – Remarque

Remarque is a 3yo colt that is flying and due some luck. It was a hard watch in the San Dominico when he was pinned between the heels of a runner and the fence but still managed to charge home to record the quickest final 200m and finish 2nd behind Paulele. It’s been 5 weeks since that run and recently turned in yet another outstanding trial. He gets 3kg off some of the G1 winning colts. It’s time this guy stands up and puts a big race on the board.
