Best Of The Best: Our 3 Best Bets For Saturday 10th Of October

We got through by the skin of our teeth last week with a 0.5 unit profit margin on a tough Epsom day, largely thanks to the efforts of Kiwi mare Probabeel. This week looks no easier but there will be 9 winners at Randwick on Saturday and we’ll try to snare a few.

Race 2 – Wild Ruler

This looks to be as close to a free hit to start the day as possible. Wild Ruler was impressive winning the Listed Heritage Stakes at Rosehill last start and a weak Roman Consul Stakes looks the perfect progression.

Wild Ruler should settle on the saddle cloth of Osamu in a race where they shouldn’t go helter-skelter. Doubtland looks the obvious danger coming back to NSW after an impressive win at Flemington but happy to back the Sydney form in here.

Race 3 – Criaderas

This lightly raced Cummings gelding had been duel nominated for the Silver Eagle later in the day which suggests the stable has some opinion of him. He was sensational when heavily backed last start, settling at the rear and not gaining a clear run until the 250m mark before charging home to finish on the heels of Academy and Ice Bath.

Bottega looks the class horse of the field but the 59.5kg and extreme lack of pace on paper may weigh against the fiery, big striding entire. Criaderas will only carry 52.5kg and whilst he has settled at the rear on each of his 4 career starts, it should be noted he has drawn extremely wide in all of those starts. Even if he has to be restrained again today, he shouldn’t have too much to do on the turn with the small field.

Race 4 – Archanna

This lightly raced Waller mare looks to have something special about her. She was a run short over 1250m first-up at Kensington before being held up at the top of the rise when she finished 1.8L back at Randwick second-up.

She went back to the midweeks for her latest start, where she settled at the rear and stormed home to win at Canterbury. She’s been crying out for 2000m and the J McDonald stick at 55kg is a positive sign.

Tip: Archanna 2 units win @4.6 With TopSport
