Belmont Tip Sheet, Staking Plan and Horses To Follow – Saturday 19th September
September 18, 2020
Looks to be a few showers around on what is actually a very nice Belmont card at this time of year leading into Ascot Opening Day. Track will start a good 4 and potentially downgrade to a soft 5 throughout the day depending on the rain and the rail goes out 8m.
- Our WA Tipping Results Results: +9.35 Units (since 01/07/2020)
Race 1 – 12:04PM FREE ENTRY TO BELMONT PARK MAIDEN (1300m)
10. Brave Dream – 2. My Hidden Journey – 3. Balderdash – 11. Zingano
Brave Dream
Close to even money elect for the cerise and white in what is, despite maybe 1 or 2 others, a very weak maiden for Saturday level. Have him marked $2.10 in my market and is sitting around that mark now. Forget the debut run when plenty went wrong, went back to the trials and trialled as well as most good young Peters horses do, settling back in the field, given an easy time of it and finishing off very strongly through the line under little riding. Likely settles back at the end of the field here from the wide draw but have a feeling she is going to show some class at her 2nd run and prove far too good for these. The map is just the query and if they want to take her on late, will be happy to oblige. A tad skinny at the $2.10 currently on offer.
Race 2 – 12:44PM AMELIA PARK PLATE (1200m)
1. Dom To Shoot – 3. Precautionary – 5. Indigo Blue – 8. Sweet Demand
Race 3 – 1:19PM TABTOUCH WESTSPEED PLATINUM HANDICAP (1200m)
2. Tajmali – 1. Angry Annie – 10. Wakan Tanka – 6. Carabinier
Tajmali:
Gets all the favours from the draw here Tajmali and think he’s going to be terrifically hard to beat first up from a spell. Has won his last 2 1st up efforts off no trials, both of which up in Kal, before the Fernie’s decided to bring him to Perth where he was able to carry his impressive country form in winning in Saturday grade, defeating Position of Power and Cuballing over 1000m at this track. Gets in really nicely at the weights for Graham with the claim and a terrific map from gate 1 to either take up the running or stalk in behind Wakan Tanka if they decide to go that route. Was just about my best of the day when he opened up at $5.00 before being wound in now to his right price ($3.10 my price). Keen. The $2.80 currently on offer is a tad unders but very confident you will see better by the time of jump.

Race 4 – 1:59PM SCHWEPPES HANDICAP (1000m)
1. River Beau – 2. Eeyore Wayz – 3. Olga Louisa – 4. Weaponson
Race 5 – 2:39PM MORLEY GROWERS MARKET HANDICAP (1400m)
2. Last Of The Line – 9. Peppijack – 6. Native Chimes – 8. Enduring Moment
Last of the Line:
Was all over him last prep and keen to follow up here with Last Of The Line for SJ Miller. Brilliant debut win had question marks given the lack of opposition before following that up by going straight into quite a strong 62+ and proving too strong for those to signal that he is a very talented horse. Loved the work he showed in a very hot trial behind Celebrity Queen when given a quiet time of it. Maps to get a lovely run in behind the leader Peppijack and if he can get the splits at the top of the straight, is just going to be super hard to hold out. Excited to see him go round again.
3.5 Units WIN
Race 6 – 3:20PM BYRON BAY PREMIUM LAGER HANDICAP (1400m)
7. Western Pride – 1. Inspirational Girl – 3. Patristic – 5. Zero Demerits
Race 7 – 3:55PM NICOPOLIS STAKES (1200m)
8. Cliffs Of Comfort – 7. Celebrity Queen – 2. Money Matters – 4. Multiverse
Cliffs of Comfort:
1200m for CoC is just a whole new ball game really and was pretty livid to be honest last start when he was dropped back to the 1000m from a poor gate with plenty of speed drawn to his inside, was trapped deep the trip in a fast run race and never given any chance. The start prior over this trip, the win was in my opinion huge. Had to work hard early when caught a little wide, breezed outside Mia Dolce but was still far too good for them at the business end. The form out of that race, albeit not as tough as what he gets here, stands up, with Flower of Scotland and Why Choose Her winning since, and Jericho Missile running a neck 2nd to Money Matters. With the lack of speed engaged here, CoC is a different beast when he is able to find the fence, with Azzopardi able to roll him to the top from the good draw where from there, I honestly think they are going to have a really tough time of it gunning him down, especially when he is so well weighted at the 54kgs. The main danger (for mine) Celebrity Queen more than likely finds herself 3 back the fence from gate 1 and needing some luck in the run home, but is brilliant enough to win if luck falls her way 1st up. CoC is ready to put in a peak performance here and would have taken plenty out of that last run despite it being unsuccessful.
