Australia’s Josh Giddey becomes youngest player to record a triple-double in consecutive games

Oklahoma City Thunder rookie shooting guard Josh Giddey of Melbourne, Australia made National Basketball Association history on Monday by becoming the youngest player ever to record a triple double in back-to-back games according to ESPN. At the age of 19 years and 125 days on Saturday, Giddey had 11 points, 12 rebounds and 1o assists in a 106-101 Oklahoma City loss to the Chicago Bulls on Saturday. Then at the age of 19 years an 127 days on Monday, Giddey had 28 points, 12 assists, and 11 rebounds in a 127-123 Oklahoma City win over the New York Knicks.
Giddey broke the record previously set by Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks, who recorded back-to-back triple doubles by the age of 20 years and 26 days in 2019. Â Doncic, who is in his fourth NBA season, already has the most triple doubles in Mavericks history with 45.
It has been a wonderful rookie season for Giddey, who was drafted sixth overall by Oklahoma City in the 2021 NBA Draft. He already made NBA history on January 2, when he became the youngest player ever to record a triple double. At the age of 19 years and 84 days, Giddey had 17 points, 14 assists and 13 rebounds for the Thunder against the Dallas Mavericks. Ironically, Giddey was playing Doncic, in this particular game, with Doncic leading Dallas with 10 assists and nine rebounds.
On the season, Giddey is averaging 12.3 points per game, 7.7 rebounds per game, and 6.3 assists per game. He also has a field goal percentage of .418. a three-point percentage of .267, and a free throw percentage of .705. With the win over the Knicks, the Thunder improved to 18 wins and 39 losses.
