Aryna Sabalenka to face Amanda Anisimova in 2025 US Open Women’s Final
September 6, 2025

We now know the two finalists in the women’s singles competition in the 2025 United States Open tennis event in Flushing Meadows, New York. After the semifinals on Thursday, Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus will face Amanda Anisimova of the United States. Sabalenka is the number one seed, while Anisimova is the eighth seed.
In the semifinals on Thursday, Sabalenka beat American Jessica Pegula 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, in a rematch of the 2024 US Open final which Sabalenka won 7-5, 7-5. Sabalenka had the service advantage as she had eight aces compared to three aces for Pegula. Meanwhile, Anisimova defeated Naomi Osaka of Japan 6-7, 7-6, 6-3 in the second semifinal, in a match that ended well after midnight at Arthur Ashe Stadium. The difference in this match was the winning percentage on second serve. Anisimova was at 55%, while Osaka was only at 32%.
Head-to-head, you might be stunned by the fact that Anisimova actually has won six of nine matches against Sabalenka all-time. Anisimova just recently beat Sabalenka in the semifinals of Wimbledon semifinal earlier this summer, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4. Anisimova’s other five wins against Sabalenka came in the third round of the 2019 Australian Open (6-3, 6-2), second round of the 2019 French Open (6-4, 6-2), third round of Charleston in 2022 (3-6, 6-4. 6-3), the second round of Madrid in 2022 (6-2, 3-6, 6-4), and the quarterfinals of the National Bank Open in Toronto in 2024 (6-4, 6-2).
Anisimova will look to rebound after being double bageled in the Wimbledon final by Iga Swiatek of Poland. This is Anisimova’s second grand slam final. Sabalenka has won three grand slam titles. She won the 2023 and 2024 Australian Open and 2024 United States Open.
