Opinion: Is Anamoe Worthy Of Champion Status?

LEGENDARY sports commentator Bruce McAvaney on Channel 7 posed a great question after Anamoe recorded his win in the Chipping Norton Stakes as he asked is he better than So You Think?

McAvaney leaned towards Anamoe and it’s hard not to think he’s correct.

Anamoe has now raced against the best for three years competing against the upper echelon of horses in this country from two-years-old to four-years-old.

That’s unheard of in modern-day Australian racing.

Amazingly he seems to be getting better with every preparation.

So You Think won 14 of 23 starts including two Cox Plates and he was also a Group 1 winner overseas though. He won 10 Group 1 races.

Anamoe is 13 from 23 starts and is yet to race overseas but that should change later this year. He’s on eight Group 1 wins.

It’s a great talking point comparing the two horses.

McAvaney also said that when Anamoe races it’s becoming an event in Sydney which is great for racing.

One thing is certain, while he isn’t Winx he’s the best horse to have raced here since her and is the best we’ve got at the moment.
