The Philadelphia 76ers have signed shooting guard Anfernee Simons of Longwood, Florida according to nba.com. The terms of the deal are two years and $12.3 million.
Simons is joining his fourth National Basketball Association franchise. He previously played seven seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers from 2018 to 2025. He then shared his time with the Boston Celtics and the Chicago Bulls during the 2025-26 season.
In 2025-26, Simons averaged 14.3 points per game, 2.5 rebounds per game and 2.4 assists per game. He had a field goal percentage of .440, three point percentage of .385 and a free throw percentage of .896.
The Bulls decided to go in a different direction at the shooting guard position. They signed Norman Powell of San Diego, California to a two-year deal worth $45 million on July 1.
Simons is one of two notable additions by the 76ers in the offseason. Also on Wednesday, they acquired small forward Jaylen Brown of Marietta, Georgia in a blockbuster trade with the Boston Celtics. In the process, the 76ers said goodbye to power forward Paul George of Palmdale, California.
With the addition of Simons, it is not expected that LeBron James will be joining Philadelphia according to Siddhant Gupta of Fadeaway World. It is expected that James will not be returning to the Los Angeles Lakers in 2026-27. On Wednesday, the Lakers were very busy on the opening day of free agency as they acquired Sandro Mamukelashvili, Quentin Grimes, Walker Kessler and Collin Sexton. There are rumours at this time that James could join the Golden State Warriors.
