According to Rogers Sportsnet on Tuesday, the San Francisco 49ers have signed safety Logan Ryan of Berlin, New Jersey (pictured right). The 49ers become the fifth National Football League team that Ryan has played for. He was previously with the New England Patriots from 2013 to 2016, the Tenneseee Titans from 2017 to 2019, the New York Giants in 2020 and 2021, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2022.
This past season in Tampa Bay, Ryan had 37 combined tackles (24 solo tackles and 13 assisted tackles), one tackle for a loss, one interception, three pass deflections, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. The forced fumble came in a 20-10 Buccaneers win over the New Orleans Saints on September 18, 2022, and the tackle for a loss came in a 19-16 Buccaneers win over the Arizona Cardinals on Christmas Day last year.
Ryan was a two-time Super Bowl champion. He won with the New England Patriots in 2015 and 2017. In Super Bowl XLIX, a 28-24 Patriots win over the Seattle Seahawks, Ryan had one solo tackle and one pass deflection. Then in Super Bowl LI, a 34-28 Patriots win over the Atlanta Falcons, he had six combined tackles (four solo tackles and two assisted tackles).
In 149 NFL regular season games, Ryan has 742 combined tackles (536 solo tackles and 206 assisted tackles), 19 tackles for a loss, 26 quarterback hits, 19 interceptions for 198 yards and a pick six, 98 pass deflections, 15 forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries and 13 sacks. The 49ers are currently the second seed in the National Football Conference with a record of nine wins and three losses. They are one game back of the Philadelphia Eagles, who they beat on Sunday, 42-19.Â
