The San Francisco 49ers stayed unbeaten with a 32-29 win over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday (AEDT Monday), capping a chaotic late NFL Week 5 slate that also saw the Denver Broncos and Detroit Lions win.
According to ESPN and an AP recap via CBS Sports, Eddy Pineiro’s 44-yard field goal with 1:56 remaining lifted San Francisco to 5-0 at Lumen Field. Seattle fell to 3-2 after seven combined turnovers and a late drop that ended its final drive.
Brock Purdy completed 19 of 29 passes for 189 yards with two touchdowns and one interception, ESPN’s box score showed. His 7-yard touchdown pass to Brandin Cooks, followed by a two-point conversion to Mike Evans, put the 49ers ahead 29-26 early in the fourth before Jason Myers tied it and Pineiro answered.
Greenlaw ejected, Deebo ruled out
ESPN and the AP reported that linebacker Dre Greenlaw was ejected in the second quarter after a late hit on Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold out of bounds, then head-butting helmetless Seattle linebacker Ernest Jones IV on the sideline. Officials announced a disqualification after a New York review.
Wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. was ruled out with a hamstring injury in the third quarter and did not return, ESPN reported, after he was hurt on a fumble recovered by Seattle. Samuel finished with two catches for 21 yards.
