2025 NFL Playoffs: Wildcard Weekend Preview: Our Expert Tips & Staking Plan

The best weekend of the NFL season is upon us – Wildcard Weekend. Six games, and as always, we will be covering every single game from now until the Super Bowl.

I will likely be adding some more picks before the games so make sure to check back.

Los Angeles Chargers @ Houston Texans

The instinct here is that the Chargers are a better team and will go on and win here. But as I have looked more and more into this game the more I have come around on the Texans. It seems like the whole world is backing the Chargers here, but there has been almost no line movement and that always sets of an alarm for me.

The Chargers have gone beyond all expectations this season. They cleared out a lot of players last offseason, but have been a better team for it. The likes of Ladd McConkey have made a big difference to this offence. But I think it catches up with them here. The Texans have a lot of talent, even if they have lost players this season through injury. I think this is a close matchup, but the home advantage gives them the edge.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Baltimore Ravens

Lamar Jackson looks set to be named MVP once again after securing the QB spot on the All Pro First Team. But one thing he has not done in his career is have much success in the playoffs. And I am backing Mike Tomlin and the Steelers to continue that here.

Tomlin has built a career on beating the Ravens, and I think the Steelers have the sort of team that can cause the Ravens some issues. I do not know if they can win outright, but I like them to come up with a gameplan to keep this close, and if they can do that, they have the talent on offence to steal it at the end.

Denver Broncos @ Buffalo Bills

The Broncos seem to be a trendy pick this week, but I really like the Bills to overcome them. Josh Allen will have a point to prove after losing out to Lamar in the All Pro vote. The Bills have been a juggernaut this year and they can carry it on here.

I can see why people like the Broncos. Defensively they have some good matchups, but I think this is a team still in transition, going up against one of the best rosters in the NFL and it will just be a step too far for them.

Green Bay Packers @ Philadelphia Eagles

For me the Eagles are the most complete team in the NFL. Jalen Hurts returns from a concussion and that is a big boost. The addition of Saquon Barkley to this team has just given them so many ways to win.

The Packers will be a good test for them though. They have just continued to grow under Jordan Love and this is likely to be a tight game. But I just think the Eagles have more ways to come out on top.

Washington Commanders @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Quarterbacks making their first start in the playoffs cover the spread just 36% of the time since 2002 when going up against a more experienced counterpart. Jayden Daniels has been elcctric in his first season in the league, but the Commanders have had some issues when coming up against the better teams in the league.

Baker Mayfield has been great once again for Tampa Bay and they come into the game with some good momentum. I think they can get a big win here and end a good season for Washington.

Minnesota Vikings @ Los Angeles Rams

This game has been moved to Arizona following the fires in California. It is hard to know just how much of an effect that will have on the Rams, but it is hard to think that they will not be affected at all. They are losing the home advantage they would have enjoyed and are going up against a team that was one win away from being the number one seed.

The Vikings are such a talented and well coached team. I just think they will find a way to use that talent gap that they enjoy here to overcome the Rams and the stars they have on offence.
