In the eighth of a 32-part series, we are featuring all National Football League teams with a prediction of where each team will finish within their division, key off-season acquisitions and their top fantasy stars. Here are the Cleveland Browns.
Key Off Season Acquisition
The Browns made a key trade in the offseason as they acquired wide receiver Jerry Jeudy of Deerfield Beach, Florida from the Denver Broncos for two draft picks. Jeudy had 54 catches for 758 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He will provide Browns quarterback DeShawn Watson another wideout to accommodate Amari Cooper.
Fantasy Stars
The Browns have three players ranked in the top 10 in fantasy football. At tight end, David Njoku of Cedar Grove, New Jersey is 10th. At kicker, Dustin Hopkins of Austin, Texas is 10th. On defense, the Browns defense is ranked fifth.
Nojku was a Pro Bowler for the first time in 2023. He had 81 catches for 882 receiving yards and six touchdown catches. Hopkins made 33 of 36 field goal attempts, and 24 of 26 converts.
The Browns were led defensively by defensive end Myles Garrett of Arlington, Texas. He was fifth in the NFL this past season with four forced fumbles, and seventh in the NFL with 14 sacks.
Projected Finish
The Browns are in a very competitive division to say the least. It will be tough for the Browns when they face divisional opponents. The Ravens are Super Bowl contenders, the Bengals have an elite passing game, and the Steelers made a significant attempt to be different than they were in 2023. Cleveland’s success this year will be based on the health and mental strength of quarterback DeShawn Watson. If he plays to his capability at quarterback, Cleveland has the potential to do something special. At this time, a third place finish and 10 wins are realistic goals.
