2021 Ranvet Stakes Review: What The Jockeys Said
March 28, 2021
It was the duel that lived up to the hype when Verry Elleegant & Addeyb shot clear of the field before the mare showed her class & overpowered the international to win the Ranvet Stakes at Rosehill on Saturday.
James McDonald (Verry Elleegant – Winner)
“I haven’t had that much fun on a racecourse for a very long time. It was so much fun.”
“Halfway up I could feel her at her top and he was still there and I was thinking, ‘on no, not again’.”
“But she’s just a wonderful mare, great determination, fantastic will to win and she knows where that winning line is. She’s just a mighty mare.”
Tom Marquand (Addeybb – 2nd)
“Delighted with the run. As we kept saying before if we bump into her at her best it’s going to be tough to beat her. He gave his all. This was always going to be a run up to a bigger day and he put his heart and soul into it.”
Kerrin McEvoy (Angel Of Truth – 3rd)
“Great run. Nice and fit and loved that ground. Out further in trip will suit him now.”
Glen Boss (Sir Dragonet – 4th)
“He ran well. Still a little bit fresh which surprises me. That is the run that gets us back in the ballgame heading toward the Queen Elizabeth. With 250m to go he was surging to go with them but then he plateaued. He kept whacking along.”
Hugh Bowman (Colette – 5th)
“She didn’t really have the best run. She was game but winners were too strong.”
Tommy Berry (Master Of Wine – 6th)
“Yeah disappointing.”
Rachel King (Nettoyer – 7th)
“Really good run second up. Will take good improvement from that.”
Damien Oliver (Miami Bound – 8th)
“Just didn’t really fire today. No real excuses for her.”
Kathy O’Hara (Cliffs Of Moher – Last)
“A bit outclassed in that field.”
