QLD MAROONS VS NSW BLUES – SUNDAY 27 JUNE, 7:50PM, SUNCORP STADIUM

Heads are down in Queensland right now following one of the most embarrassing losses in their history but if we learned anything about this Maroons side last year, it’s that you can never write them off as an underdog.

New South Wales opened as -4.5 favourites ahead of Game 1 in Townsville, but after demolishing the Maroons 50-6 in a record-breaking victory, it’s no real surprise to find the line all the way out to -13.5 heading into Sunday’s decisive Game 2.

Paul Green’s side found no answer for Tom Trobjevic on either side of the field, while the Maroons were also their own worst enemy missing over 50 tackles on the night.

Andrew McCullough will replace Grant at Hooker while Francis Molo has been handed a debut jumper and Josh Papalii returns from suspension. Angus Crichton has been added to New South Wales’ bench with Jake Trbojevic sidelined due to injury.

If history is anything to go by then QLD will be looking to bounce back here and this game will be closer than the bookies are expecting.

We’re backing a tight game and will cover that with a few anytime try scorer bets. (see below)

Important Stats:
  • The Blues have a strong recent history in Game II clashes, winning seven of the last 10.
  • Five of the last six Origin II matches have gone OVER the total match points line.
  • Valentine Holmes has been the first try-scorer in each of his last three Origin appearances at Suncorp Stadium.
  • In nine of the last 10 Origin series, the team that lost Game I has covered the line in Game II.
  • Tom Trbojevic has scored at least one try in each of his three previous Origin away appearances.
