Cleveland Browns @ Carolina Panthers

There is nothing quite like a revenge game and Baker Mayfield – now healthy after playing last season completely banged up – will be out for it. He is a man that thrives when he has a chip on his shoulder and not only is he facing his former team, he has been written off by so many. The Panthers team is really solid and with no Deshaun Watson on the opposite sideline, they have a great chance of taking the win in the season opener at home.

Indianapolis Colts @ Houston Texans

Home underdogs that missed the playoffs the season before have an incredible record ATS in week one. Mainly due to the public having all offseason to bet up the other team that is perceived to be a lot stronger. But the Texans are better than some will think and while I believe the Colts will win this division, I do not know if they are a touchdown or more better than the Texans on the road.

Philadelphia Eagles @ Detroit Lions

The Eagles are one of the most public teams in the league right now. Everybody seems to want to pick them not only for this week, but as a dark horse for the Super Bowl. But I am of the opinion that they will take a bit of time to gel with all these new additions and ultimately I do not believe in Jalen Hurts.

The Lions are a team that will always play hard and if the Eagles are not firing on all cylinders then Detroit are a team that is built to take advantage of that. They are a really solid team that I expect to surprise a few teams this year.

Baltimore Ravens @ New York Jets

This is a very similar situation to the Colts/Texans. A home underdog that has almost been written off. The Jets had a great offseason in terms of additions and are going to be stronger than many expect in my opinion.

The Ravens are of course a strong team. But I do still have some question marks over how the offence will run. Who will start at running back, who will catch the ball and most importantly, just how Lamar Jackson will look. I do think they are a good team but they have issues to start out the season.

San Francisco 49ers @ Chicago Bears

We are backing a lot of underdogs this week, but when there is a good opportunity on a favourite we will take it. I am high on the 49ers this season and think we will need to back them early this year as people will quickly join me on the bandwagon if Trey Lance is even just decent. This roster is so strong throughout and those of you that read my season preview will know I am backing them to head to the Super Bowl.

The Bears did almost nothing to help Justin Fields in the offseason. His weapons are some of the worst in the league and the OL is not much better. I am a big fan of Fields but they are making his job so hard. Up against one of the best and most rounded defensive lines in the league, they could get absolutely wrecked.

Green Bay Packers @ Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings have one of the best home field advantages in the entire league and a new head coach that should get this offence firing like it hasn’t before. They have so many weapons and with an offensive minded coach, have every chance of being great. They could legitimately win both the rushing and receiving titles.

The Packers are struggling on offence. Not only have they lost Davante Adams, they have now lost number one receiver Allen Lazard to injury. Who Aaron Rodgers is going to throw to is a bit of a mystery.
