2021 Golden Slipper Review: What The Jockeys Said
March 28, 2021

Tommy Berry secured his third Golden Slipper when Stay Inside showed a great turn of foot to beat an eye catching Anamoe.
Tommy Berry (Stay Inside – Winner)
“I rode him last Tuesday morning and Michael called me on the way home in the car and said ‘I’ve seen you happier after a piece of work.”
“I said ‘I don’t know what you want me to say, he worked good, he just didn’t blow me away.”
“I rode him this Tuesday morning, I didn’t even have to say anything, I think the smile said enough. It’s just amazing what a week can do in racing with these two-year-olds.”
“Going to the gates he was ready to go.”
Rachel King (Anamoe – 2nd)
“He’s a superstar in the making. Draws a gate he wins.”
Damien Oliver (Ingratiating – 3rd)
“He took a bit of riding to get into stride today and into a position. We had a good run throughout. Mid-race it got a bit tight there but after that we got a pretty good run through. He ran admirably.”
Nash Rawiller (Four Moves Ahead – 4th)
“We just missed our spot early in the race then steadied to get in. We followed the winner. She ran very good being a tough little filly. Will only improve.”
Tom Marquand (Captivant – 5th)
“He’s run super. Hit the line really hard. Looking forward to seeing him up in trip.”
Luke Currie (Artorius – 6th)
“He ran well. He’s still pretty raw. He was slow away again. He didn’t turn properly running off the track but his last 100 yards were good.”
Hugh Bowman (Profiteer – 7th)
“It was all too much for him.”
James McDonald (Home Affairs – 8th)
“He’s a beautiful colt. Will be a lovely 3yo.”
Jason Collett (Mallory – 9th):
“We got flattened at the 700m which didn’t help our chances.”
Kathy O’Hara (Rocket Tiger – 10th)
“Gallant effort. He just had a tough run from the barrier. Good effort.”
Kerrin McEvoy (Shaquero – 11th)
“We got back further than we thought. We got some nice cover. Just wasn’t able to pick up in that ground. He’ll make a nice 3yo on top of the ground.”
Jean Van Overmeire (Glistening – 12th)
“She ran good. Lost her footing a touch in the ground.”
John Allen (Queen Of Wizardry – 13th):
“Her run was OK. She should take good improvement from that.”
Mark Zahra (Kalashnikov – 14th)
“Needs a firm track but probably not good enough.”
Tim Clark (Swift Witness – Last)
“She’s probably come to the end of it. Had a long prep.”
