The Canberra Raiders are doing everything in their power to keep Hudson Young, offering the New South Wales enforcer a $3 million, three-year deal to play on in the nation’s capital.
Young is currently earning around $650,000 a season, plus State of Origin bonuses, so it would be a handy pay day for the second rower.

The 28-year-old is already signed through to 2027, so accepting this Raiders deal would seen him play up to 32 (at least) with the green machine. He’s already turned out for 155 top-flight NRL games at the club.
Through those 150-plus games, Young has become one of the best second rowers in the game and would be well worth the coin from Canberra’s side.
The NRL salary cap is also expected to expand beyond $15 million from 2028 on, so his seven-figure pay would weigh less on overall structure.
From Young’s perspective, there’s few options he wants to explore beyond re-signing with Canberra. Should he want to test the open market he’ll have to wait until November 1, but it’s more likely that he simply puts pen to paper sometime in the months before that.

Unfortunately for the 28-year-old, his NRL season is now over after he suffered an Achilles injury. He just had surgery and will be back training just after Christmas, before starting 2027 preseason with the team.
The Raiders are still a chance to make finals; they’re eleventh right now.
