WALLER’S ROCKET READY TO ROLL IN AUSTRALIAN GUINEAS

CHRIS Waller is chasing his first Australian Guineas with Riff Rocket who he has assessed as the horse to beat.

Waller said Riff Rocket had a lot in his favour in the Australian Guineas but nothing more so than his love of Flemington.

Last spring Riff Rocket won the Super Impose Stakes and the Victoria Derby at his only two starts at Flemington.

His only 2024 run was at the track when he resumed with an easy win in the C.S Hayes Stakes (1400m). As a result he is $2.45 favourite for the Australian Guineas with PlayUp.

“He’s come through his brilliant first-up run really well. He loves the mile, he loves Flemington and Craig Williams knows him really well. He’s the horse to beat.”

Waller in his weekly preview with assistant trainer Charlie Duckworth also gave a good push for his $41 chance Cap Ferrat in the same race.

“He’s drawn barrier two and he’s a good colt this fellow. He should settle closer hopefully in a mid-field position and he’ll be letting lose at the 200m.”
