Waller primed for Saturday’s meeting at Rosehill

Chris Waller is set for a strong performance in the Manion Cup at Rosehill with three of the top four runners in the betting markets.
Zeyrek is an early $4 favourite for the 2400 metre race, ridden by Sydney newcomer William Pike, however, Waller trains the next three horses which includes, Surefire at $4.4, Mightybeel and No Compromise at $7. Waller’s Chalk Stream is an outside chance at $23.
It will be interesting to see whether Waller finds a winner or if Pike and Zeyrek are too good for the strong field.
Waller won’t have too much time to enjoy victory if he does prevail in Saturday’s third race with Verry Elleegant a $1.40 favourite in the 2000 metre Ranvet Stakes.
A shortened field will favour last year’s Melbourne Cup winner and Waller is confident the six-year-old Mare can adapt to any race condition thrown at it.
Verry Elleegant is looking for its 12th Group 1 win of its career on Saturday with the opportunity to break the $15 million mark for prize earnings if successful.
