Trial Review: Horses That Caught The Eye At The Trials This Week 17/5

Rosehill and Randwick hosted Sydney trials this week. We’ve Black Booked an impressive Baker 3yo, a up and coming Stradbroke hopeful and an undefeated 2 start speedster that matched it with Overpass.

Big Papa

The Baker 3yo settled 2nd behind a hot tempo and was strong the whole way up the straight to score a 2.3L win in what was the fastest 1030m Rosehill trial on the morning. He kicked off his career with consecutive wins at Bathurst and Hawkesbury before being competitive in Saturday company at Randwick and finishing midfield in G3 company behind Ninja. He looks ready to go fresh.

Sixties

The G2 Phar Lap winner looks in great order after a 6 week freshen up. He settled one pair forward of the rear with J Mac in the saddle and did his best work over the final 200m hitting the line strongly to finish 1.6L 2nd. He should be competitive wherever he lands 1st up in Brisbane with the Stradbroke his likely end target.

Sir Les

The undefeated Carmody 3yo went hard early settling 1/2L off Overpass in his 1045m Randwick trial. He matched the G1 winner all the way up the straight finishing 0.2L 2nd with Wodeton a further 0.2L 3rd with a big gab back to the rest of the field. Not a bad effort for a horses that will be resuming for career start 3.
