One of the more interesting features we do at The Sporting Base is a weekly feature on NFL rookies. Here are the top five rookies (offensive players and kickers) on winning teams from Week 2 of the 2026 season.
5) Emmett Johnson
With Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, you would not think that the Kansas City Chiefs are the third youngest team in the NFL at 26 years and three months. But they are. On Sunday we saw effective running from the Chiefs’s second running back Emmett Johnson of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Johnson was the Chiefs’s fifth round pick (161st overall) in the 2026 NFL Draft out of the University of Nebraska. On Sunday, he had two rushes for 15 yards and two catches for 20 yards in a 33-30 Kansas City Chiefs overtime win over the Indianapolis Colts.
4) Jadarian Price
The Seattle Seahawks are without Zach Charbonnet to start the season as the running back is recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee. On Sunday, we saw Seahawks rookie running back Jadarian Price of Denison, Texas in action before he went down with a shoulder ailment. Price, the Seahawks’s first round pick out of Notre Dame, had 52 rushing yards and eight receiving yards in a dominant 31-7 Seahawks win over the Arizona Cardinals.
3) Trey Smack
The Green Bay Packers rookie kicker from Severna Park, Maryland, was the Packers’s sixth round pick, 216th overall, in the 2026 NFL Draft. On Sunday, Smack smacked field goals of 26 and 34 yards through the uprights, and had two converts in a 20-17 Packers win over the New York Jets.
2) Jonah Coleman
The Denver Broncos rookie running back from Stockton, California recorded his first career NFL touchdown on Sunday in a 20-13 Broncos win over the Jacksonvuille Jaguars. Coleman had a game winning three-yard touchdown with seven minutes and 21 seconds left in the fourth quarter. He finished the game with 10 rushes for 39 rushing yards and three catches for 19 receiving yards. Coleman was the Broncos’s fourth round pick, 108th overall, out of the University of Washington.
1) Denzel Boston
It was an interesting Sunday between the Cleveland Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars as the game was delayed during the game because of a wicked thunderstorm. However, the Cleveland Browns came through and beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 23-19 thanks to a strong game by Browns rookie wide receiver Denzel Boston of Boise, Idaho. The Browns’s second round pick (39th overall) out of the University of Washington had five catches for 95 receiving yards and one touchdown. Boston’s touchdown catch was 55 yards from Deshaun Watson and tied the game at 16 with one minute and 23 seconds left in the third quarter.
