The golf world is entering in an appealing stretch where it is extremely interesting to watch golf every week. This weekend we have the seventh signature event of the 2026 PGA Tour season with the Memorial Tournament in Columbus, Ohio. The event is also prestigious on tour because the legendary Jack Nicklaus was the founder. Here are the three golfers we like the most.
Scottie Scheffler
It is almost fitting that the current world number one is going for the three-peat at a place hosted by the best golfer of all-time. In 2024, Scheffler posted a winning score of -8 and beat Collin Morikawa by a stroke. Then in 2025, Scheffler had a winning score of -10 and beat Ben Griffin by four strokes. The 2025 Memorial Tournament will be best remembered as the year that Jack Nicklaus’s wife Barbara was honoured, and the fact that Scheffler delivered the largest margin of victory since Tiger Woods won by seven strokes in 2001.
Patrick Cantlay
The world number 33 is the only other two-time champion of the Memorial over the last decade. Cantlay was victorious in 2019 by two strokes over Australian star Adam Scott, and then in 2021 in a playoff over Colin Morikawa. Cantlay’s combined score in the two years he was in the winner’s circle was an impressive -32.
Ludvig Aberg
The other golfer we like this week is the world number 15 from Sweden. I have a tendency to pick a golfer in my one and done pool a week too early. I picked Aberg last week at the Charles Schwab Challenge and finished 17th. Expect him to contend this week.
