The Plunge’s Saturday Review: Horses You Must Follow From Rosehill 19/1

A juvenile on debut that stamped itself as a genuine Golden Slipper contender and a horse that looks ready to string multiple wins together are this week’s horses to follow from Saturday’s meeting at Rosehill.

The Plunge’s Service Results:
  • +64.1 units of profit
  • 16 bets: 7 wins / 9 losses

Remarque

  • Race 1
  • Distance 1100m
  • Class 2yo Handicap

Remarque was sent around a short priced favourite on debut after two sensational trial wins. Not a lot went his way after Tommy Berry wanted to settle just off speed but was then forced to burn tickets getting to the front after rival jockeys made him work. He cruised up to the leader under a strong hold at the top of the straight but Berry suggested he was scared by the big screens inside the fence and was very green. Despite all this he won by 2 lengths and now looks to be a contender for the Golden Slipper.

When To Bet

The Hawkes team will be busy educating him, which could result in big improvements on race day. I’d love to see him go around again in the Inglis Millennium in 3 weeks time.

Blaze A Trail

  • Race 7
  • Distance 1300m
  • Class BM 72

Blaze A Trail showed he had returned from a spell in great order after winning a recent trial. After grabbing the $8.5 earlier in the week I was a little worried after listening to trainer Matthew Vella’s pre-race interview where he said he was hoping his 3yo colt would run 2000m this prep. Blaze A Trail settled midfield and was the only horse to make serious ground to finish second. The run and the comments from the trainer suggest that Blaze A Trail profiles as a horse that can string multiple wins together this preparation.

When To Bet

I’d like to see him run in a similar grade over 1500m before a mile and then a shot at 2000m. Stick with this one.
