The Plunge’s Saturday Review: Horses You Must Follow From Randwick 9/4

An amazing day of racing for Day 2 of the Randwick Championships highlighted by Think It Over’s win in the Queen Elizabeth with one of the greatest rides we have ever seen from Nash Rawiller. My horse to follow is a Provincial-Midway Championships runner that stuck on well and may have a decent race in the Brisbane winter carnival in her.

Great News – Randwick

  • Race: 3
  • Distance: 1400m
  • Class: Provincial Championships Final

There was a lot to like about Great News’ 5th in the Provincial Championships Final. McDonald was caught wide behind the speed early and was forced to push on to the share the lead. She battled on well up the straight and faded over the last 50m to finish 1L away in 5th whilst others like Sally Pops and Barossa Rosa faded badly at the back of the field. Another interesting factor is that the Kim Waugh mare only had two runs with a month in between leading in which may have shown in the final 50m.

When To Bet

With some potential fitness to come, the Waugh camp may eye a nice race over the Brisbane carnival. We’ll keep an eye out for her there.
