The Plunge’s Saturday Review: Horses You Must Follow From Randwick 2/10

With 3 Group 1s run at Randwick on Saturday there was plenty to look out for moving forward in the carnival. After running my eye over a few replays I’ve picked up a great run in the Epsom that will pay to follow in the future.

The Plunge’s Service Results:
  • +11.8 units of profit since December 2020.
  • 93 bets: 22 wins /30 placings

Atishu – Rosehill

  • Race 8
  • Distance: 1600m
  • Class: G1 Epsom Handicap

Atishu’s 6th in the Epsom may go under the radar but the run had much more merit than meets the eye. In the opening stages Ashman, Riodini, Discharged, Atishu, Harmony Rose, Dalasan and Lion’s Roar charged clear from the rest of the field to set a cracking tempo as we expected. This told over the concluding 400m of the race with 5 of those 7 gallopers finishing 10th or worse.

Race winner Private Eye came from right back in the field whilst Dalasan and Atishu were tough all the way to the line. Dalasan finished 0.18L away in 3rd and will definitely be one to follow. He will either head back to Melbourne for the Cox Plate. Atishu was 1.7L awayin 6th and will stay in Sydney to contest easier races than the Cox Plate.

When To Bet

I’ll back Waller in to decide which way to go. She will most likely be freshened for the Golden Eagle at Rosehill in a months time.
