The return of a star and a monstrous performance from a filly headline this week’s Plunge’s Black Bookers. Click below to read more.

The Plunge’s Service Results:
  • +26.5 units of profit since December
  • 26 bets: 7 wins /7 placings

Colette

  • Race 7
  • Distance 1400m
  • Class: Group 2 Apollo stakes

Colette established herself as an A grade galloper in 2020 with grand final victories in the ATC Oaks in the autumn and the $7.5 million Golden Eagle in the spring.

She resumed in the Apollo Stake amongst some of the countries best WFA performers and many expected her to settle at the rear and run on nicely in a nice warm-up for the campaign.

Rachel King was positive early and managed to have her settle 4th on the fence. From the turn she was able to reel in the fancied Kolding and Funstar and left too much for the likes of Verry Elleegant and Mugatoo to do late.

When To Bet

After a dominant win 1st up over 1400m trainer James Cummings now has plenty of options with this mare. The Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes looks obvious in a fortnight’s time where she will come up against a similar field. They may also fancy the G1 Coolmore Stakes against her own sex on March 13.

Never Talk

  • Race 8
  • Distance: 1200m
  • Class: Group 2 3yo fillies

Never Talk has been a filly that continues to improve with every run and after a fast finishing 2nd place behind Every Rose in the Light Fingers Stakes she looks like the one to follow throughout the feature fillies races.

From barrier 13 Jason Collett was forced to settle at the rear of the field and on the turn she didn’t look a hope. The Lees filly weaved a passage through runners going nowhere in the wet conditions and when she finally saw clear daylight ahead at the 150m she let down a huge run and had connections pumping the air only to just miss by a few strides.

When To Bet

The Surround Stakes over 1400m in a fortnight’s time looks perfect. If she is lucky enough to draw a gate and see another rain affected track, I want to be all over her.
