The Plunge’s Saturday Review: Horses You Must Follow From Randwick 12/12

A pair of Godolphin 4yos caught our eye when re-watching the tape from Saturday’s Villiers meeting at Randwick.

Criaderas

  • Race 8
  • Distance 1600m
  • Class Group 2 Villiers Stakes

Criaderas was backed into favouritism on the day but jockey Kerrin McEvoy was forced to go back to the tail of the field from the wide gate. The pace in the race was fair but could never be considered too quick after Greysful Glamour led all the way. No one missed Criaderas storming home to finish 3rd by half a length but it was the fact that he was still last at the 300m mark that earns him a spot on our blackbook.

When To Next?

A spike in grade isn’t going to be a factor here as The Villiers is as strong as it gets this time of year. This horse is going to be the real deal when it gets out to 1800m and beyond. Look out for him in the feature middle distance over the Qld carnival. He is likely to start favourite wherever he goes.

Tailleur

  • Race 6
  • Distance 1200m
  • BM 88 Fillies and Mares

Tailleur is another 4yo Godolphin trained mare that impressed with its’ second on Saturday. Miss Invincible set a hectic speed in front and Tailleur, who normally likes to lead, was forced to sit 3 wide in 4th. She still managed to produce a strong run up the rise to finish a nice second.

Where To Next?

Tailleur would be a great bet in a similar grade against her own sex again. Connections may look to step her up in grade interstate this time of year.
