Newcastle R5 – 0.4u Private Detective $15
On speed, assisted with a good draw. Last start, when third-up ran 3rd 2.8L over 2200m in tougher company carrying 58.5kg. He ran an ok rating but reeled off an exceptional L200m split suggesting he has more to come. Fourth-up here. Handles the wet. Jackson Searle retains with 2kg off. Price is big overs.
Newcastle R6 – 1.5u Aureus Angel $4.6
Third race start. Solid on debut, finishing 2nd 0.2L at Gosford over 1100m in this company. She ran good time and was strong late. She then ran 4th 4.5L at Hawkesbury over 1100m again in this company. She ran solid late splits suggesting she’ll enjoy the added trip. Query on wet, had 1 average trial on a slow track with prior stable. Winkers off here.
Newcastle R8 – 0.75u Cream Risers $8
Last two starts have been very good. 2 back finished 7th at Rosehill over 1500m after settling well back – made very good ground late and ran a solid overall rating. He then settled on a hot speed and ran a game 3rd in tougher company over the mile. 1500m is best. Won on slow. Stable lacking winners but place rates are normal.
Grafton R2 – 1.25u Marokawa $5
In good order this time round. Third-up here. Impressive when resuming running a solid 3rd at Tamworth over 1000m reeling off some solid late splits on the heavy track. Then won at Lismore over 1100m in similar company again on heavy. Relishes the wet. Generally gets back but good speed in this race.
