The Edge NSW: Friday 22/10 – NSW Service

Big day ahead with a handful of selections at both Scone and Cootamundra

Scone Race 1
2u Clyde $3.7

Progressive 3yo who was thrown into the deep end in the Spring Champion G1 where he finished 10th 8L from barrier 11. He was taken back from the wide draw and whilst he was never competitive he did run a big rating and was solid to the line. He ran the last 2000m 0.3L then G1 class average. This is far easier and the extra 200m should suit him. Clearly well rated by the stable.

Scone Race 2
0.75u Forever Jude $8

Visors came back on two starts back and really sharpened him up. He won at Tamworth over the mile and recorded some excellent late splits. That effort would be very competitive here. He then went to Coonamble and raced over the mile where he was caught three wide no cover but still hit the line well beaten 4.3L. He’ll enjoy the booking of a top jockey.

Scone Race 4
0.3u Irresistible Miss $21

Over-raced on debut over the 1500 at Goulburn, finishing 4th 7.4L Cyptogram, who has since come out and won a Bm64. Irresistible Miss was easy in betting, $2.8-$3.4 on debut. Showed encouraging signs in the trials and last start. Dropping down to the 1300m looks a good play. Expect to be prominent in running. Stable must be respected here.

Scone Race 5
0.2u Distant Secret $26

Has received a couple gear changes in his recent starts and seems to have sharpened up a bit in his most recent two effprts. Ran 2nd 2.3L at Tamworth over the 1000m, over-raced and began awkwardly but did record a competitive rating for this. Resumed last start from a break and put up a better rating on a wet Tamworth over the 1000m. Will need luck from the draw.

Cootamundra Race 4
2.5u Hokahey $3

Hokahey and Lights On The Hill are our two top picks here. They ran fast times at Moruya over the mile on slow. Lights On The Hill, who was $6.5 into $4.4, beat Hokahey, who was $4 out to $5.5, 1.4L. Hokahey meets him 2kg better at the weights and has the added fitness on her third-up here. She also gets a regular rider in Kayla Nisbet in the saddle.

Cootamundra Race 6
1u Makuba $6.5

This 8yo is racing in great form. Hasn’t missed a place his last 3. Last start winner at Bathurst 1L over the 1100m on heavy. Worked to take up the running but recorded a time that will be competitive here. Assisted by the inside gate at a track bias to leaders and rails in running. Zara Lewis retains the ride with her 3kg claim.
