Stephen Curry sets Warriors record for most field goals made

According to ESPN on Monday, Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry of Akron, Ohio set the Warriors franchise record for most field goals made in a career. He has 7222 now following the Warriors’s 128-120 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder. Wilt Chamberlain of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania has the old record with 7216.

In the eight-point Warriors win, Curry made 12 of 20 field goals for a field goal percentage of .600. He also made eight of 14 three-point shots, and all six free throw attempts for 38 points overall. Curry also had a double-double as he had 12 assists, eight rebounds, one block, and was a +17.

Curry is 68th all-time in NBA history in field goals made, and sixth among active players who are playing in the NBA in 2022-23. He is behind LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers (14019), Kevin Durant of the Brooklyn Nets (9126), Russell Westbrook of the Lakers (8608), DeMar DeRozan of the Chicago Bulls (7576) and Chris Paul of the Phoenix Suns (7552). The all-time leader in field goals made is Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who made 15,837 field goals during his remarkable NBA career.

The record-breaking night for Curry came when he is making headlines on and off the court. Last week, Curry was ejected and fined $25,000 for throwing his mouthguard into the stands in a 122-120 Golden State win over the Memphis Grizzlies. According to Madison Williams of Sports Illustrated, Curry was upset that Jordan Poole attempted a three-pointer (which he missed) rather than throwing the basketball to him. This is the second time that Poole has disturbed a Warriors player in 2022-23. The first was Draymond Green.

Then this week, according to Jeffrey Clark of FOX News, Stephen Curry and his wife Ayesha announced they are trying to block a low-income housing development in California near their $30 million mansion. If the development were to proceed, the Curry family is requesting the government build fencing and add shrubbery for added protection. The request is controversial because Curry has a net worth of $160 million.
