Sergio Garcia has confirmed he will not be part of LIV 2.0 and will return to the DP World Tour in 2027, with a recall to Europe’s Ryder Cup team among his goals.
The 2017 Masters champion announced his plans in a social media statement on Thursday (US time), BBC Sport reported.
“Next season I’ll be playing on the DP World Tour,” Garcia wrote, according to GOLF.com. “I’m also keeping my options open for a return to the PGA Tour.”
The 46-year-old Spaniard joined LIV in June 2022 and won two individual titles with the breakaway league, where he captained Fireballs GC.
Ryder Cup in his sights
Garcia, Europe’s record Ryder Cup points scorer, wants to be part of the European team at Adare Manor in Ireland in 2027.
“Another goal is to make that Ryder Cup team, and to be an asset to the guys in whatever capacity that may be,” he said, as quoted by the BBC.
The BBC reported that under current tour rules Garcia is eligible to play again but cannot serve as a future captain or vice-captain.

Masters regret
Garcia also addressed the incident at Augusta National when he slammed his driver into the turf and hit a cooler, snapping the head off the club.
“I left Augusta last year disappointed with myself and my actions, and I’m ready to show what I’ve learned and where I am mentally,” he said.
LIV deadline day
Garcia follows Jon Rahm, Tyrrell Hatton, Ian Poulter, Graeme McDowell, Louis Oosthuizen and Australian Lucas Herbert in walking away before LIV 2.0.
LIV is working through Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the United States, GOLF.com reported, and the league’s extended player-commitment deadline falls on 30 October.
